摘　要：

党的十九大报告指出，我国社会主要矛盾已经转化为人民日益增长的美好生活需要和不平衡不充分发展之间的矛盾。这一重大论断为制定党和国家大政方针、长远战略提供了重要依据。人民群众日益增长的美好生活需要这一表述高度契合了历史唯物主义的 基本原理，是历史唯物主义的新时代中国化表达，将历史唯物主义发展到了新的高度。首先，美好生活的主体是人民，“人民群众对美好生活的向往就是我们的奋斗目标”，是对唯物主义群众史观的新发展；其次，美好生活需要是全方位多层次的需要，体现了需要的丰富性和全面性，是对历史唯物主义需要观的新阐释；第三，美好生活需要是与当前的历史阶段相联系并随时代发展而日益增长的，体现了需要的社会性和历史性，是对历史唯物主义发展观的新定位；最后，美好生活是要靠奋斗才能实现的，体现了美好生活的实践性，将历史唯物主义实践观推向了新境界。

 

A Historical Materialism Perspective on “Better Life”

Abstract  The report of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party has pointed out that the prin- cipal contradictions facing Chinese society have been transformed into the contradiction between unbalanced and inadequate development and the people’s ever-growing needs for a better life. This major political judgment provides an important basis for formulating the party’s and the country’s major policies and long-term strategy. The expression of people’s ever-growing needs for a better life is highly compatible with the basic principles of historical materialism. It is an expression of historical materialism with Chinese characteristics for the new era, and it has developed historical materialism to a new height. First of all, the subject of a good life is the people. It’s a new development of the materialist historical view that “The people’s longing for a better life is our goal”. Second, the need for a better life is an all-round and multi-level one, as the richness and comprehensiveness of the need is a new interpretation of the need of historical materialism. Third, the need for a better life is linked to the current historical stage and is growing constantly which reflects the social and historic significance. Thus, it is a new orientation of the historical materialism development concept. Finally, that a better life can be achieved by struggle reflects the practicality of a better life and pushes the historical materialism practice concept to a new realm.
