摘　要：

现代变迁与现代解释，一直是社会科学的核心论题。长期的主导观点是，西方是现代原生地和理论原创者。这是人所熟知的单一现代观。晚近阶段，西方与非西方国家的学者有志重新理解现代，强调现代并不由西方专美。非西方国家尤其是亚洲国家对现代的肇始与兴盛，发挥了巨大的原创效用，甚至超过了西方国家的作用。这是仍然在演进中的多元现代观。多元现代是一种旨在取代单一现代的理念，两者之间的对峙性显而易见。但分析起来，两者的矛盾并非不可调和：单一现代重在强调现代方案第一次系统呈现的西方样式，多元现代重视的则是现代起源上的东西方国家平分秋色。试图重新理解现代，需要对等看待两种解释意欲，并在不同的解释空间将之有效区隔开来，以此凸显一种调和结论。

A Singular Modern or a Pluralistic Modern:A Reconciliation Conclusion of the Contrary Interpretations of Modern

Abstract:The transition and interpretation of“the modern”has always been the core topic of social science.The long-term dominant view is that the West is the native land and theoretical originator of the modern,which is well-known as the concept of singular modern.For a later period of time,Western and non-Western scholars have aspired to re-understand the modern,emphasizing that the modern is not monopolized by the West.Non-Western countries,especially the Asian countries,have played a great original role in the initiation and prosperity of the modern,even beyond the Western countries,which express the evolving concept of pluralistic modern.The concept of pluralistic modern is aimed at replacing the one of singular modern.The confrontation between the two is obvious.However,analysis shows that the contradictions are not irreconcilable.The concept of singular modern underlines the western pattern presented in the modern program for the first time,while the concept of pluralistic modern declares that the Eastern and Western countries are on a par as for the origin of modern.To try to re-understand modern,we should regard the two interpretations and their intentions equally,and separate them effectively in different interpretative spaces,thus highlighting a reconciliatory conclusion.
