“Consumer Politics” and National Governance in Affluent Society

Abstract:From shortage to prosperity is the inevitable law of human social development.With the reform and opening up and the development of productivity,Chinese society has shown the characteristics of “rich society” in some areas and some aspects.Predictably,with the coming of the affluent society,the importance of production gradually gives way to the importance of consumption,and the politics of production will be transformed into consumer-led politics,so the basic logic and strategy of state governance need to take into account and adapt to new social realities.Consumption politics,on the one hand,represents a political transition in the macro realm.On the other hand,it builds a “micro-politics” in the micro domain of daily life.Its logic is the accumulation of individual consumer behavior to form a public dilemma and social risks and these dilemmas and risks have become a key factor affecting social order,but they are also the real focus of national governance.
